In 2011, the Road Map partners are focusing on how best to get to the goal of doubling the number of students in South Seattle and South King County who are on track to graduate from college or earn a career credential by 2020.
The work in Phase Two includes:
• Encouraging organizations to align their work to the Road Map goal and indicators established in Phase One of the project.
• Identifying and supporting powerful system-changing actions and strategies. For example, signing kids up for College Bound Scholarship, building neighborhood cradle-to-college projects, and expanding early childhood home visitation efforts.
• Engaging parents and communities to advocate for dramatic improvement in education. A Community Network and Advocates Caucus are being created to help engage and involve parents, youth, and community organizations in every aspect of the Road Map project.
• Supporting neighborhood cradle-to-college and career pathway projects that focus on student success, by providing a forum for sharing best practices and working together on challenging data issues.
• Supporting private and public funders who want to align investments with the Road Map goal, metrics, and strategies.
• Collecting data and reporting on Road Map results. The first Road Map baseline report will be produced in late 2011.
